When I look back on the incredible weddings of 2024, some of my absolute favourite moments to capture were during the preparation. The bride and groom prep photos are such a unique part of the day – full of nerves, excitement, and the buzz of what’s to come. As a UK wedding photographer, I find this part of the wedding day so special because it’s filled with raw emotion, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
From the bride’s first look with her dad or bridesmaids to the champagne bottles popping, the organized chaos of hair and makeup, or the groom sharing laughs with his groomsmen, there’s so much happening that tells the story of your day. This is also the perfect time to focus on those intricate wedding details – the bridal dress, shoes, cufflinks, bouquets, and stationery – all the little things that make your wedding uniquely yours. Capturing these details is one of my favourite parts of being a wedding photographer in the UK because they bring so much personality to your gallery.
If both bride and groom prep are taking place at different locations, adding a second shooter to your wedding photography package is a brilliant way to ensure nothing gets missed. A second photographer can document the groom and his groomsmen while I focus on the bride’s prep – giving you a complete story of both sides of the morning.
If a second shooter isn’t part of your plan, don’t worry! We can get creative by staging some groom prep shots at the wedding venue. Whether it’s adjusting ties, fastening cufflinks, or sharing a drink with his groomsmen, these moments are just as meaningful as the rest of the day.
