A Christmas Wedding
in
Central London

A week before Christmas in Central London and the kind of winter wedding that feels cinematic from start to finish.

After photographing Lora and Ben in Greenwich Park for their pre wedding shoot earlier in the year, I already understood how naturally they move in front of the camera. Effortless. Relaxed. Completely themselves. As a documentary and editorial wedding photographer, that trust makes everything flow.

The morning began in an Airbnb just a short walk from 116 Pall Mall, one of the most iconic historic wedding venues in London. The winter sun was shining, tourists filled the streets, and Central London had that unmistakable festive energy that only appears in December.

I met Josh the videographer at 116 Pall Mall to explore the venue and capture early atmosphere on both digital and 35mm film before heading to bridal prep. Shooting this London winter wedding across both formats allowed me to blend clean editorial imagery with the softer, nostalgic tones that 35mm film brings to documentary wedding photography.

At the apartment, a pink doorway immediately caught my eye and became the perfect backdrop for Lora’s dress. Bridal prep was calm, emotional and full of good energy. Natural window light streamed in, creating honest moments that reflect my documentary style while still feeling refined and intentional.

Upstairs at 116 Pall Mall I had already spotted a window pouring winter sunlight into the space with views over the busy London streets below. It became the perfect setting for Ben’s groom portraits. Refined, timeless and very much in keeping with the grandeur of this Central London wedding venue.

After finishing bridal portraits and capturing an emotional first look with Lora’s dad, we made our way back to the venue just in time for her arrival in a classic white London taxi. A fitting touch for a wedding in the heart of London.

A Staircase Ceremony at 116 Pall Mall

The ceremony took place on the grand staircase at 116 Pall Mall, something I had never photographed before and an absolute dream as a Central London wedding photographer.

Ben and the registrar stood on the central platform while guests lined the upper levels, wrapping around the historic architecture. When Lora and her bridesmaids walked up the staircase it created incredible layered compositions, perfect for both documentary storytelling and striking editorial frames on 35mm film.

After the ceremony, guests lined the staircase again as Lora and Ben walked through them while wedding wands waved in celebration. A brilliant alternative to confetti for an indoor London wedding venue and visually perfect for photographs.

Drinks followed in one of the elegant State Rooms at 116 Pall Mall where candid moments unfolded naturally. Historic architecture, warm winter light and genuine connection made this part of the day a gift to photograph.

Winter Couple Portraits in Central London

As the late afternoon winter sun began to set, we stepped outside for couple portraits just moments from Pall Mall. Despite being in the centre of London we found a surprisingly quiet open street where the light softened and the city skyline began to glow.

Nothing staged. No awkward posing. Just real connection captured on both digital and 35mm film. A timeless approach to wedding photography in Central London.

Group photographs took place back on the grand staircase before guests moved into one of the most breathtaking historic reception rooms in London. As the winter sun set through the tall windows, the London skyline created a dramatic backdrop that felt cinematic and completely fitting for a Christmas wedding at 116 Pall Mall.

An outfit change marked the start of the evening celebrations. The band began, the cake was cut and the dance floor quickly filled.

Later, we stepped back out into the London streets for night portraits beneath the Christmas lights. The festive atmosphere, the movement of the city and even a moment where Santa almost stole Lora from Ben perfectly reflected their sense of humour and made for one of my favourite images from the day.

The party continued long into the night, finishing in the downstairs bar with a vodka luge, champagne and a room full of joy.

From Greenwich Park to 116 Pall Mall, from documentary coverage to editorial portraits, and from digital to 35mm film, this winter wedding in Central London was an incredible way to close the year.

Lora and Ben, thank you for trusting me to capture it all.
